- Important
information for OCI Card holders
Ministry of Overseas Indian
Affairs (MOIA), in a Gazette Notification dated 23rd March 2012, has
specified that OCI Registration booklets of OCI holders will be treated as
their identification for any services rendered to them in India. It
allows OCIs to give an affidavit, attested by a Notary Public, stating that a particular
specific address in India may be treated as their place of residence in India.
The relevant extract from the Notification is given below:
“State Governments should ensure that the OCI registration booklets of
OCIs are treated as their identification for any services rendered to
them. In case proof of residence is required, Overseas Citizens of India
may give an affidavit attested by the notary public stating that a
particular/specific address may be treated as their place of residence in
India, and may also in their affidavit give their overseas residential address
as well as e-mail address, if any.”
- Launching of
MEA Smart Phone App
Foreign Secretary has launched the
“MEA India” – a Smart Phone App. The App
is now available for downloading on Android phones and hand-held devices on
‘Google play’ and on all Apple devices at the App Store.
With this launch, Ministry of
External Affairs is the first Ministry of the Government of India to have a
mobile App that integrates its entire digital presence on a single
platform. The MEA India App
integrates relevant web pages of our Missions abroad as well as selected web
pages of the websites relating to the Passport Seva Kendra, videos of the PD
Division, Hajj and Kailash Mansarovar Yatra pilgrimages.
Indian Diplomatic/Consular Missions
all over the world are integrating their web page with the MEA website so that
press releases that are put up by any of our Missions globally will appear
immediately on a single module on the MEA App and therefore can be read by
anyone anywhere in the world. Mobile Application Brochure *Click here
